April Announcements from Churches
Association - The National Day of Prayer celebration will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 12:15 pm-12:45 pm at First Baptist on the Square. The theme is A Mighty Fortress is Our God. Everyone is invited to come and join with others from all over America who will be praying together for our country and our leaders on that day.
Association - Rockridge Baptist Assembly - Rockridge still needs a Foosball table or other games for their recreation area. The youth who have been in the recreation room really enjoy it. They always need painters and people who would trim shrubbery and do yard work. They plan to work on and paint the pool this spring. They need paint for the pool repainting project ($700-$1000). They have two groups that will help clean and paint the pool. They need a good first aid kit, aprons for the kitchen, and hot pads for handling cooking pots. They need a couple of men who can chain saw some trees, already cut down, into firewood for their fireplace. A couple of paddle boats are in need of repair. One fiberglass canoe needs a hole repaired. If you can help with any of these needs, contact David Jackson at david@davidandfrances.com or at 706-675-3494. Association - Since 1872, Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, Inc. has been the hand that has reached out to hurting children and broken families. In 2010, they opened their doors and hearts to 750 children. Each was given the chance for a new beginning built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. They depend upon your support to care for these children. Last year their church contributions dropped by 28% while the number of children they served continued to rise. Especially during these difficult times, they need our Baptist Churches to “rise up” to help care for these children. This year’s Children’s Home Day is May 8, 2011. You may order bulletin inserts and offering envelopes to assist your church in thepromotion of this important event. A Children’s Home representative will be available upon request to speak in a Sunday morning or evening worship service or other appropriate time. For materials or a speaker, call GBC at 1-800-746-4422 and ask for Communications Department.
