April News from Churches

Baptist Tabernacle - In March, had one saved and two new members.  Their church family continues to support Troup Baptist Association’s Acts 1:8 Team by making and giving baby blankets and crocheted/knitted caps to The Pregnancy Center of LaGrange.

Davidson - Baptized new members Leanna Pinkard and Janell Pinkard (mother & daughter) on 3/13/11. Leanna (daughter) has already found her spot in service and has started working with their youth and has joined their choir.  What a joy to see young people working for GOD.  Their youth group is growing and they are planning to add a couple of Sunday School classes for them. Praise GOD.  On February 27th their Evangelism teams went out for the first time.  They had 6 teams to go out that day. Brother Tom Owensby came and met with their teams teaching them how to evangelize. He is an awesome leader and teacher and their church is so thankful for his help. They visited 57 homes on that one afternoon with some very encouraging response.  They are already planning their next visitation day. Pray that GOD will bless these efforts and that HE will lead them to those they need to reach.  Joey Scott (son of Joel Scott), who was injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan last fall, came to Davidson and gave his testimony.  What an awesome testimony and what an awesome young man. Since his injury, he has been in hospitals in Germany, Washington DC, and now he is in the Veterans hospital in Tampa, FL.  He has been through so much since all this happened.  He is such a great blessing to everyone who heard him.  He will be having major surgery on March 24th.  He still has a very positive attitude about his life ahead and praises GOD for bringing him this far.  If anyone out there would like to send him a card, they will be happy to get you an address. Please help them to continue to pray for this young man. He is one of many who is willing to put his life on the line for all of us.

Grace - The Grace Baptist youth celebrated Valentine’s with a banquet at the church; they are proud of their youth.  The speaker/singer for the March seniors’ meeting was Ronnie McGee, a church member who was born and raised in Ireland.  Please keep Ronnie and family in your prayers as he is recovering from heart surgery.  They have begun SNAG (Sunday Night At Grace) at 6 pm for the children.  Parents, bring your children on Sunday nights.  Their “Meals to Go” prepared and delivered 44 meals to shut-ins.  Children’s choir rehearsal, led by Adam & Melanie Daniel, is each Wednesday night at 6 pm.  Their Relay for Life Team sponsored a singing at the church and collected $367.00.  Kissing the pig raised $27.00.  Had Homecoming on March 27 with special music by the Dills.

WMU kicked off Christmas Project JOY to host a Christmas party for families in need during Christmas season. This project required a commitment or pledge to give from the congregation. New Macedonia - The local chapter of the American Red Cross honored several community volunteers at its annual fundraising kickoff campaign breakfast on March 22.  One of them was Marian Talley, who is the secretary for New Macedonia and who was honored by her church.  She is also an usher and greeter for the church and she sometimes cleans the church without anyone asking her so the regular housekeeping staff can have a break.  She works as a nurse at West Georgia Medical Center, but never misses a church service.  Every year she takes her vacation from work during VBS week and revival so she can be at church for those events.  Marian is much appreciated by her church.  She also attended the association’s WMU luncheon held at Rosemont on March 12.

Reeds Chapel - WMU had a fundraiser and prepared a delicious meal.  Bro. Jeff McCartney, Robert Alford, and Danny Webb took the youth to shoot skeet; they had a good time.  They are working on ideas to celebrate their 100th anniversary and working on a fundraising project for The LaGrange Pregnancy Center.  They are having a great time at Reeds Chapel.
