How to Become A Christian:

To become a Christian one must first realize that he or she is “lost” – that is, totally estranged from God, separated from God because of a sinful nature.

One must further realize that no amount of good deeds or good thoughts can redeem our relationship with God. Only through accepting Jesus Christ’s death as payment for our sin can we be redeemed and become a child of God.

Locate a Bible, the history of God’s relationship with Humankind, and read from the chapter titled Romans.

Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

A person alone cannot reconcile the lost relationship between himself or herself and God. To provide a remedy, God sent his only Son, Jesus, to live the perfect life God demands.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Although humanity through sin has separated itself from God, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross bridged that gap.

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

All that God asks is that a man or woman repent of his or her sins, turn from them and accept the sacrifice Christ made on the cross for those sins.

Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

God promises in the Bible that anyone who accepts Jesus as Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The way we call upon Him is through prayer…

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I have broken your commandments and have sinned. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and was raised up from the dead to give me new life. I want to turn from my sin and trust Jesus to be my Savior and Lord. I surrender control of my life to Him and receive the salvation He has provided. Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer and saving my soul. Thank you that I am now a child of God. Amen.”

As one who has accepted Christ as Savior, you will want to be obedient to Him and follow Him and be baptized by immersion. You will want to join with a fellowship of believers in a local church.

TELL SOMEONE

We want to know about your decision. In fact, it will be good for you to talk to someone and tell them all about your decision to surrender your life and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Call us now at the TBA Office: (706) 884-1975 and if no one answers, Bro. Andy will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

BAPTISM

It is important that you follow Jesus’ instructions to be baptized. Find a church this week and talk to the Pastor about your decision today. Tell him that you want to be baptized. He will talk with you about your decision and baptism you soon. Baptism does not “save” you. Only faith in Jesus Christ saves.

FIND A CHURCH

It’s also very important that you find a local church to be a part of so that you can grow as a disciple and serve with your spiritual gifts and abilities. The church is the family of God where we draw strength from other believers. Find a TBA church that is close to where you live and get started this week.
