September News from Churches

 

Association - The WMU Leadership Team, led by Margaret Ross, sponsored and planned an association-wide Prayer Walk for our Schools. On Saturday, Aug. 14, a Dutch treat breakfast was held at IHOP and then everyone went to walk their assigned school campuses. Some of the prayers were for: safety at school and during transportation, for God to be glorified , for discipline to be maintained, for wise use of finances, for strength and courage for our teachers, for patience for school staff, for the presence of the Holy Spirit in our schools, for love to and from school staff, for mutual respect between staff and students, for Godly leadership, for students to be open to learning, for students to “want” to go to school, for prayer to be back in our schools, for Christian students to be bold, and for teachers to be bold with God’s message as students open the door of opportunity. Thank you, WMU Team, for your leadership.
 
Baptist Tabernacle - In August, they had 28 souls saved and added 9 new members. The Iron Horse Tent Revival, held the week of Aug. 15, was a great accomplishment with 4 souls saved. A heartfelt “thank you” goes to everyone who had a part in this revival. God truly blessed. Sunday School Open House was held Aug. 22 following morning worship. They appreciate all their Sunday School teachers, assistants, and their Sunday School Director for all their work this year. Their Food Closet, along with their Mobile Food Pantry, served a total of 1053 households this past month. They praise GOD for this ministry! School supplies and other items were donated by their congregation and God’s Helping Hands women’s group to Whitesville Road Elementary, their adopted school.
 
Bethel - Had a glorious revival in August with Bro. Mike Teem leading the services. Eight precious souls were saved and many came to the altar each night. Abundant Sound plus Steve & Peggy Sexton blessed them in their praise and worship services. They had 6 new members to join the church in August. A youth tubing trip to Helen took place on Saturday, Aug. 28.  
 
Callaway - Their Sportsman’s Banquet was a great success. Hank Parker was the guest speaker and music was by the Servers. They were blessed with a great turnout. Twelve decisions were made for Christ and there were 8 rededications. Praise God! They had a great summer with VBS, children’s department activities, Rockridge, and pool parties. The youth have been busy also with mission work days, SPLASH, and fun at the lake. The youth are planning fundraisers for the next trip to Winter Extreme in December. The Leisure Timers are also staying very busy with day trips to surrounding areas. They will attend the GBC Toccoa Fall Conference in October.  
 
Creekside - Had 5 people to accept Jesus as their Savior in August. Welcomed 9 new members and held 5 baptisms. Bro. Nick Gooden accepted the call to preach and was licensed. Bro. Nick held a swimming pool party for the youth on Aug. 1. Young at Hearts met Aug. 7. Sisterhood was held on Aug. 20. The woman in the Bible studied at this meeting was Delilah. A church cleaning was held after the meeting. Brotherhood also met on Aug. 20 and did some repairs and worked on the grounds after their meeting. Stephanie Walker was welcomed to Creekside as their Music Minister.
 
Davidson - Had a great Homecoming Day on Aug. 15. Todd Ward of the Ward Family brought the morning message. The Ward Family sang during the morning service and also after lunch. It was a great day in the Lord with great fellowship, wonderful food, and so many visitors. Then on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights, they had revival. Thanks to Pastor Brian Johnson from Dawson, GA, to Pastor Lin Martin from Roanoke, AL, and to Pastor Ronnie Jordan from LaGrange, GA for bringing great messages each night. God is so good to them. They enjoyed One Accord in concert on Aug. 21 along with The Masters Touch. Had a 5th Sunday night singing Aug. 29.
 
East Vernon - The youth enjoyed a camp out before school started back. Brotherhood and WMU met Aug. 16. They continue to visit the Nursing Home the second Monday night of the month. Their Outreach Program is doing well and continues to make contacts on the first and third Thursday nights of each month. AWANA group started back Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 6 pm with a pizza feast.
 
Glenn - They would like to welcome new member Edward Watson and thank God for the miracle that He performed in his life. They also had two souls saved in the month of August (To God be the Glory). They’ve started a children’s choir and hope to have more children. Please continue praying for them as they grow.
 
Grace - Tim Harris and Tayrn Haught (members at Soverin Grace) were married July 31 at Grace Baptist Church. The groom’s parents are missionaries in Honduras and the bride’s parents are missionaries in Belgium. The Seniors met Aug. 3 with a program by Will’s Way, a retreat center in Alabama near Roanoke. It honors God by loving people in their time of crisis and tragedy by providing an atmosphere conducive to healing and recovery (www.willsway.org or 256-357-4035). The Grace Red Hatters, led by Sharon Gray, visited the Auburn, AL Assisted Living Home on Aug. 18. They took red hats for the 13 residents and helped them decorate them. “Giving of Grace” delivered 31 plates to shut-ins on Aug. 21. 
 
Highland - WMU sponsored a back-to-school clothing give away on Aug. 7. Gave away much clothing, school supplies, and hot dog lunches. Leftover items were donated to charitable organizations. Highland’s Youth Group, together with the youth groups from Hogansville First Baptist Church and First Methodist Church, hosted an outreach concert on Aug. 13. More than 100 youth attended and enjoyed the Christian Band “True Story” and speaker Cody Dees. The Children’s Ministry held a back-to-school party on Aug. 14; it was also a “going-away” party for Stephen, Daniel, and Caleb Adams who are moving to North Carolina. Sunday School Promotion Day was held Aug. 29. They joined other churches in their community for the Fifth Sunday Night Singing, sponsored by the Hogansville Ministerial Association, on Aug. 29 at Asbury United Methodist Church.
 
Lighthouse - After 5 months of hard work, they are finally done with their new church home at 1007 Hogansville Road. They give thanks to all who prayed, worked, supported, and gave. After taking a week off, they jumped right into their open house celebration week. They appreciate all who came to be with them, especially their great speakers: Associational Missionary Aaron McCollough; Rev. Jerome Shipman from New Macedonia; Rev. Michael Jackson from Confidence Missionary; Rev. Glenn Perkins from Faith Believers; and Evangelist David Jimenez from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. They closed the week with Rev. Jerry Parkerson. Had a great time in the Lord. After a week’s break, they jumped right into a week-long VBS. They had a great time. Pastor Paul Cruz dressed up as a cowboy on Sunday morning to close off the celebration. They thank all who came to participate and fellowship with them. Everyone is invited to come and worship with them at their new home.
 
Mountville - Celebrated promotions on Sunday, Aug. 15 at Pastor Dwayne’s house. Had a great time ; enjoyed food, fellowship, and fun. Had a waterslide for kids of all ages and then a water balloon battle. They are very proud of all their youth who were promoted and they continue to pray for all of their youth.
 
Mt. Pleasant - Had one person saved in August; they rejoice for this one soul and pray for many more.
 
New Hope - Ordained two new deacons, Charles Crowder and Clint DeMooney, on Sunday, Aug. 29.
 
Reeds Chapel -  A group went to the Bullock house to eat, then went to Carroll farm for peaches; they had a good time. Had two to join the church. Will be having a back-to-school party for their members.
 
Roper Heights - They had a good month with good anointing messages that they all needed. Pastor Jackie Taylor preached in a revival at Liberty Hill Congregational Methodist Church in his home town in Cleburne County; had good services and many rededications. Mark Peak and Eric Rice preached for them while Bro. Jackie was away. Had a fellowship breakfast Sunday morning, Aug. 22. Bo Huerta brought an inspiring message. Youth day was Aug. 29. Eric Rice brought the message and they sent up lots of prayers for their youth.
 
Stovall - Celebrated another new member this month. They are working hard on the completion of their food pantry. The Stovall Men’s group is assisting the Stovall Ladies’ Group in the project so they can continue their food ministry for the needy in their community. This is an ongoing project for the Ladies’ Group. They had one family emergency and were able to provide several food boxes for a young man hurt in an accident. In addition, they provided a needy family in the community with school clothes and school supplies. The family was very thankful and what a way to share their Christian love for their neighbors. Their Sunday School attendance has been going up over the past month.
 
Wehadkee - On Aug. 1, Wehadkee on Abbottsford Road celebrated their Homecoming with Wehadkee from Old School Road in attendance. Morning service was conducted by Ethan Waters, the pastor of the Village Church in East Point, GA. His wife Rachel provided the invitational hymn accompanied by Pastor Waters on piano. The Twin Creeks Trio from Abbottsford, GA provided awesome music and testimony for the morning service. Food was served in the fellowship hall after the service. Mark Peak led off their four-day revival on Sunday night by bringing a spirit-filled message. Monday through Wednesday services were conducted by Woody Woodard. (Congratulations to Bro. Woodard on his upcoming marriage marriage to Miss Megan Walker on Labor Day weekend.) Special singing for revival each night was Phillip Adcock on Sunday, Rodney & Carmen Lott on Monday night, Sharon Mickle and the youth choir from Living Waters Church on Tuesday, and Darlene Ozley & Phillip Adcock on Wednesday night.
